The great workings of our magic sit on the precipice. Waiting for the day when all comes to fruition.

In just a few days, May 15th, we launch the Kickstarter campaign for our 200-page epic fantasy comic series.

I am so excited, because we have our covers, we have everything but the funding. And now I can share Evan Scale's amazing cover for our compiled book!

And before the proverbial gates open, and everything slams into focus, I wanted to take a moment to explain something that seems both simple and entirely too complicated.

Kickstarter, and how it works.

For many of our readers, this may be the first campaign they're actually backing. You may have heard about some projects, or the great fantasy author Brandon Sanderson breaking all sorts of records (and Kickstarter itself), with his own campaigns.

But going to any platform for the first time can seem daunting. So I'm here to help.

At its core, Kickstarter is very simple for comics. Instead of spending tens of thousands of dollars to create thousands of copies, hoping that our fans will discover them later, creators bring their idea to their readers at the beginning.

"Hi! I have this epic fantasy comic. It'll cost $5,000 to fund the production, and here is what it is."

Over a period of about a month, fans and new readers alike pledge their funds, and if enough backers and money is pledged, the campaign succeeds and the books are printed!

If the goal isn't reached, no one is charged, and the books don't happen.

Think of it as a gathering. A fellowship, if you will, with the quest a journey of self-fulfillment.

When the campaign launches, you'll see several reward tiers. These are simply different ways you can support the project.

For example:

• A digital edition of the full comic collection
• The 200-page trade paperback
• A few higher tiers with special extras for collectors

You pick the reward you want, pledge your support, and that's it.

The campaign then runs for about 30 days.

If the project reaches its goal, Kickstarter collects the pledges and we begin printing the books and preparing everything for delivery.

Along the way, we may also unlock stretch goals — fun bonuses added for everyone if the campaign passes certain milestones.

For independent creators like us, Kickstarter is one of the best ways to bring ambitious projects into the world.

It lets readers decide which stories deserve to exist.

And this one — the full collected edition of our comic series — is something we've been building toward for years.

So when May 9th arrives, I hope you'll join us when the gates open.

— Jack

P.S. Launch day backers make a huge difference for a campaign. If you're planning to support the project, keep an eye out for the email when the Kickstarter goes live.

Thank you for reading. I hope that this sparked a piece of magic for you this week.

Until next time.

Blessings,

Jack Holder
