Sometimes, you just need to be able to see it for it to become real.

We've been talking the last few months about The Innkeeper's Dirge, and book one in The Shattered Wing. Seven legends meet in a small town at the edge of the known world. Diwedd is unremarkable. A farming village known for its potatoes and its reclusive inhabitants. In fact, there's only one social gathering place. The site where the tale of the Fiorae will be told.

The Crow's Call

The Crow's Call has been Diwedd's watering hole for generations. Brynn Greenway's grandfather built the place, and every citizen finds a reason to eat there at least once a week. The chairs are comfortable, the food hearty and filling, and Greenway makes sure his drinks are not watered down.

It's the kind of place where you can feel comfortable just relaxing. Settling down by the fire, or chatting at the bar. No one is here to judge, or sell you something. Come down to the Call, and just...let go.

This right here, this means a lot to me. Because The Innkeeper's Dirge is taking place right here. In the taproom, innkeeper Brynn Greenway will hear the tale of the seven. And perhaps help them make sense of it all.

State of the Inkdustries

The Innkeeper's Dirge - I did manage to write for a few days this week. There is new character art coming as well as more settings from the world of The Shattered Wing. It was another week of working on all three books, so I am getting really familiar with every character and their lives!

Legends of the Realm and Comics - We are into colored pages for the Starling's Call, the Sanctaidd comic! Eileen Widjaja has really delved into this secretive part of the Theocracy, the play between Gladstone and Marian, and the duties of this country to the south of Dannisfire.

The Shattered Wing

Just what is the Shattered Wing?

It is the greatest relic from a bygone era. The remnant of a goddess, and the last trace of her divine power on this world.

After the world was created, there was a long era of peace. Millennia passed by, where gods and mortals walked through the land. Kingdoms were established, and the continent of Tir Aileni was peaceful.

Until Phaedron the Dark Dragon broke through from his abyssal plane.

What followed next was three hundred and eighteen years of war between the gods and the demonic forces of Phaedron. Much of the world was covered in darkness as the gods fought the dragon to a standstill.

It came to a final battle between Gallantil and Phaedron. Deep in a wooded glade, on the edge of the tear Phaedron had used to claw his way through, Gallantil fought the dragon to a standstill. In desperation, Phaedron speared his tail through Gallantil’s wing. She sheared it off, took her wing back, and sent Phaedron howling back into his abyssal realm.

Gallantil and the other gods helped reestablish peace, but quickly left the world, lest their presence invite more danger from Phaedron. But Gallantil left her wing with her people in Naubleroth. As a reminder of her faith, and sacrifice, for her people.

In time the Wing changed. The wound disappeared, and the feathers became as hard and bright as sapphires. It remained in Naubleroth for centuries. And after the failure of the Council of Naubleroth, the Gallantines secured the Wing deep within the bowels of the Palace of Talons. Ensuring that the elves would never steal their blessed relic, and surest sign that their mission from Gallantil was holy.
